About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at University of Texas at Austin in 2008. I have practiced social work since that time in both Texas and Oregon, as well as abroad with Doctors Without Borders in Nigeria.
My career has primarily centered on working with adults who have experienced traumatic events or who have faced other significant challenges like mental illness, addiction, and social marginalization. My work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault/abuse has heavily influenced my career path and is part of why I now offer individual therapy as a private practitioner.
I speak Spanish and lived in Latin America for several years earlier in my life. Because of this, I have worked a great deal with immigrants and have come to understand the trauma that immigration can sometimes involve. This is why I also have recently started to offer mental health evaluations as a consultant for immigration cases.
In addition to therapy and mental health evaluations, I have also developed a strong skillset in designing and facilitating mental health trainings and other workplace education workshops. I now provide these trainings in the community for non-profits, government agencies, and private businesses. I train both staff and leaders to build individual and group resilience and to learn the necessary skills to maintain healthy relationships and overall well-being.
My social work career has been varied and has allowed me to channel my skills and passion for working with people and provide needed services in the community.
